Devin Badenhorst was born in 2004 in Pretoria, where he studies at Tuine (Primary), currently in Grade 6.  He is an avid sportsman and takes part in athletics, rugby, cricket and tennis.

He started playing tennis at the age of six (6) but only took part in tournaments at the age of 7 in the U10 boys category, where he won several tournaments.  He started playing U12 Tournaments when he was 9 years old.  He has been the number one tennis player in his school since 2011, when he was only in Grade 1.

Devin is currently ranked at number 1 in South Africa (Under 12).  He was selected to represent South Africa in January 2016 where they competed against other African countries, and he won the tournament.  He is ranked 1st in Gauteng North and was selected for the Gauteng North Platinum Squad team in 2015 and 2016.  He also competed in his first ITF tournament in Botswana in May 2015 and came second.  In May this year he competed in 3 ITF/CAT Tournaments and won all 3.  He puts his academics as his number one priority, and achieves good grades.
